When did Microsoft stop supporting Windows 7?

Why should I stop using Windows 7?
Windows 7 is now completely unsupported by Microsoft, and so there are no updates or security patches available.  This means that Windows 7 is likely to be subject to security breaches so your sensitive patient data could be at risk from a third party.


When did Microsoft stop supporting Windows 7?
As of EXACT version 12.8, Windows XP & Server 2003 machines were no longer supported.

What should I upgrade to?

Do I need to change my hardware?
We recommend that you seek advice from your IT hardware support person or partner to see whether your hardware will support the upgraded operating system.


Do I need to back up my data before I upgrade my operating system?
A full backup of any data must be done before you update to a Windows 10 operating system to prevent any data loss.


Is this a mandatory requirement?
It is our understanding that the regional regulatory authorities require practices to use supported operating systems only.  However, the decision to comply with this guidance lies with the business owner.
