Application Proxy

Search these help files

Application Proxy can be used instead of the old XrayProxy, for sites that only need Examine Pro.

Images are captured in a local copy of Examine Pro and then automatically synced back to the server, where they can be viewed on the chart by all users.

Application Proxy is installed on the PC which has the locally accessible Xray/IO Device, along with a locally installed copy of EXAMINE Pro.

Compatibility

The Application proxy works with EXACT version 12.15 or later.
Workstations must have a VPN connection to the server, such that shared server drives can be browsed from the workstation. Other requirements see requirements for EXACT workstation PC (e.g. Windows XP not supported).

Installation

On the server

• Install Exact on the Server
• Add the product license “Application Proxy” to the Product Licenses. Your support person will provide you with a key.
• Install Examine Pro. Make sure the dongle is installed on a (in practice) workstation which can be seen from the server (via VPN) and which is always left on.
• Log in to Exact and set the setting “examine pro.central share.path” to contain the share path where the images are stored on the server. Eg \\server\images

On the Workstation

• Install Examine Pro as normal and point it to the same dongle as the server.

• On the workstation install the Application Proxy. You can find the installer in EXACTResources\ApplicationProxyInstaller under the Exact Server install path.

Download it to the workstation, Double Click the Application Proxy.exe and follow the on-screen prompts:

Configuration

When Application Proxy is launched, you are asked for the EXACT Server:

Type the EXACT Server name in, and Click OK:

A message will appear once the Application Proxy is paired with the EXACT Server:

You can change this pairing at any time later on by right clicking the rocket ship icon and choosing the "Pair with another EXACT Server" option.

Images are stored locally on the workstation as well as being synced back to the server. The Application proxy defaults to saving the captured images in “.\ProgramData\Software of Excellence\Application Proxy\ExaminePro Media”.

If you want to store the images elsewhere, right click on the rocket ship icon in the app tray and choose the "Examine Pro Settings" option.

Enter a new path in the field provided (The path recommend to be a local path to be synced to Examine Pro path on the EXACT server):

Messages related to the Application Proxy can be seen in the Windows Notification Centre:

The Application Proxy can be seen in the Windows Task Tray:

It can be found in Task Manager as: Soei.ApplicationProxy (32 bit)

How to use Application Proxy

• In Exact (hosted), login and select a test patient, e.g. Mr Notes. You should see a capture button displayed at the top
• Click the new capture button, and to launch Examine Pro. You should see the Examine Pro with the colour you set above launch, meaning it has opened the copy on the workstation, ready for capture.
for the selected patient on the workstation
• Capture a sample image.
• After a minute the image should appear on the patient's chart.

Large files

There is a file size limit of around 50MB for background syncing of files. If a file is captured which is larger than this limit a popup notification will appear.

It will ask you to enter a path to the (hosted) server share where the images are stored.

Click on the folder icon and browse to the path. Select it, and click on "Copy to Server". The path selected should be the same as the path entered in the “examine pro.central share.path” setting above. Copy to Server" will not be available until the correct path is selected, as it tests for a proper Examine Pro destination to prevent mistakes. You should only have to do this process once. After the first large file has been encountered, the path will be defaulted from the previous entry. From then on, you will only have to click on "Copy to Server".

If you want to copy large files out of hours, you can click on "Remind me later". The prompt for that file will then go away until 5pm or 7am which ever occurs next. When you do click on "Copy to Server" all the large files waiting to sync will be copied in one operation.
