Importance of Denplan Categories for the Denplan Assessment Form

The Denplan Assessment Form can be filled automatically if you chart services with Denplan Categories for a patient.

Set these Denplan Categories from the Denplan Setup window (described below) or directly from the Edit Service window (right-click > Edit).

The Denplan Assessment Form (DAF) relies on correct setting of Denplan Categories for services, so it is very important to take care with this process.



Auto and manual upgrade of services

An upgrade process has been run on your system to assign most of the standard services shipped with EXACT to the correct Denplan category.

However, if you have added new services or some of the categories are incorrect, you can update the Denplan category on any service.

Update by editing the service and changing the selection in the Denplan Category drop-down list.

This list is graphic type dependent - only related Denplan categories will appear in the list, based on the graphic type:

  • If you select a Filling graphic type, only the Amalgam Filled Surfaces, Composite Filled Surfaces, Cosmetic Veneer and None Denplan categories will appear in the list. No other graphic type (other than None and Extraction) will have these appearing in the list.

  • If you don't select any graphic type, all Denplan categories except Extraction will be available for selection.

  • If you select an Extraction graphic type, then only the Extraction and None Denplan categories will be available in the list.



EXACT calculates the Denplan scores based on Denplan category, tooth numbers and surfaces, for Amalgam and Composite fillings.

EXACT therefore requires each service charted for Denplan to be set up correctly so that they contain this information.

Check the Denplan scores in case your services have not been set up correctly, which may cause EXACT to produce incorrect scores as a result.



Multiple services may be updated together, via the Denplan Setup button in the Payor window, enabled only when a payor with the Denplan payor type is selected (access to this button is controlled by the Edit Denplan Service Categories security option).

Select this button to launch the Denplan Setup window as shown below:

To setup Denplan

  1. Select File > Payors.

  2. Select a Payor in the Payors screen:

     

  3. Select the Denplan Setup button to open the Denplan Setup window:

     

     

    If you cannot see the Denplan Setup button it may be because your security settings are incorrect - access to this button is controlled by the Edit Denplan Service Categories security option, accessible to an Administrator-level user.

    Note the dropdown menu for Denplan categories, and the checkboxes against each service:

     

  4. To assign services to a Denplan Category:

     

    1. Scroll up/down through the Services list and check the checkbox for each required Denplan service.

    A service can appear in only one list at a time, so if you select a different category for a service item it will then change to that category and be removed from its original category.

    1. Select a Denplan category from the dropdown menu.

    2. Select the Update button.

    (To remove services from a category, repeat the above procedure with the None category selected (and remember to select the Update button)

  5. Repeat the process for different categories, then click the Close button to exit.



IMPORTANT:

A service can appear in only one list at a time, so if you select a different category for a service item it will then change to that category and be removed from its original category.
