If the Server is faulty then you will need to be able to log into your network backup to view data until the issue with the server has been resolved. We also advise logging into your network backup on regular occasions in order to check it is validYou may wish to log into EXACT backups to check their validity or to access data in the case of a Server failure.

You will not be able to log into a Network Backup if the backup has not been setup or run. Please see article unless you have pre-configured and completed backups and the data is on the same version as the installed version of EXACT.

To log into your network backup Load the EXACT software onto the login screen. Click on the Practice dropdown and select PracticeBackup (If your database is labelled different it will be [databasename]Backup)

Enter your username and password to log in. You will be warned this is a backup database, any database records you update while logged in will not be seen by other users so remember to log out and back in to your Practice database as soon as you can.backup launch EXACT (if met with an error click “No Server”).
Please Note: Only the workstation storing the backup data will have access to the data.
Contact the Support Team if you wish to use the backup as recovery data in the case of a server failure.
If you have the option on the Practice dropdown of a database name containing the word “backup” i.e PracticeBackup (your database may be labelled slightly differently but should always contain the word “backup”) select this and log in with your normal credentials.

If you have no backup database option you will need to specify the backup database name and location in the following file. C:\ProgramData\SOEI\EXACT\Login.ini

Open this file with Notepad and add the following section at the bottom (if it doesn’t already exist). make sure that the word “backup” is in the Database name otherwise the data will connect to the EXACT services and cause issues.
