SOEGateway SPF Instructions

If you are using a practicename@soegateway.com email address within EXact and are masking this with another email address, for example your website Info@website.com then unless you have ‘SPF’ record created for your domain/website you will fail SPF record checks, emails sent through EXact are likely to be delivered to the patients junk/spam folder, or worse potentially not at all.

Accounts typically set up in this way will look similar to the below, note how the practice email address (the reply to) is different to the username.

It is possible to add an SPF record to your website which will allow the @soegateway.com mail servers to send mail for your domain, on your behalf.

Please pass the following SPF record over to your Domain Administrator, it should only take a few minutes to add.

v=spf1 +a +mx +include:mail.soegateway.com +ip4:185.53.59.66 +ip4:185.53.59.67 ~all

Once the above SPF record has been added you have made all the necessary changes and no further action is required.

If you have any questions or issues with the above changes please email support@soeuk.com

Are you unable to add an SPF record to the domain? Free email providers such as Google/Hotmail/BTInternet do not allow for custom SPF Records - There is another solution!

An SPF record is a DNS record that has to be added to the DNS zone of your domain. In this SPF record you can specify which IP addresses and/or hostnames are authorized to send email from the specific domain.

The mail receiver will use the “envelope from” address of the mail (mostly the Return-Path header) to confirm that the sending IP address was allowed to do so. This will happen before receiving the body of the message. When the sending email server isn’t included in the SPF record from a specific domain the email from this server will be marked as suspicious and can be rejected by the email receiver.
